The research aims to describe the socio-demographic characteristics, the level of positive mental health, the level of self-care capacity and the physical health conditions of adults with chronic problems related to physical health treated in a nursing consultation in primary health care, and evaluating the effectiveness of a program of nursing psycho-social interventions to boost the agency of self-care and positive mental health among people with hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
STUDY DESIGN
Phase I (descriptive, transversal and correlational study) and Phase II (quasi-experimental, pre-test post-test study with intervention group: IG and control group: CG).
AREA
EAP Can Vidalet in Esplugues de Llobregat (Primary Health Care Unit).
SAMPLE
n=28 people with chronic problems (Phase I) and 22 participants for the IG and CG (Phase II).
VARIABLES
Socio-demographic, physical health conditions, dependent (Positive Mental Health and Self-care Agency), independent (Program of Nursing Psycho-social Interventions from the Nursing Interventions Classification taxonomy), and of program evaluation.
TOOLS
Form 1 ad hoc (socio-demographic variables), Positive Mental Health Questionnaire (Lluch, 1999), Self-care Agency Scale (Evers and Isenberg, 1989) and form 2- ad hoc (program evaluation). The data will be analyzed with the statistical package PASW-18. Only the tests with a p-value lower than or equal to 0.05 will be considered statistically significant, the analyses will be carried out from statistical descriptions, Cronbach alfa coefficient, Fisher exact test, Mann-Whitney U test, multivariate analysis of covariance (MANOVA), univariate analysis (ANCOVA) and an analysis of the variance.
